Coming off a 49-12 season that ended in the NCAA Women’s College World Series semifinals, Tennessee Lady Vols softball head coach Karen Weekly has been nonstop in preparing for the 2027 campaign.
On Monday, Weekly and I sat down for a conversation on the program, including departures, her coaching staff, the elusive national title and more.
Evaluating everything after the offense stalled
The Lady Vols boasted the nation’s top pitching staff at a 1.47 ERA, but even that wasn’t enough to get them over the hump. Offensively, the team went in the wrong direction from the prior season. That caused Weekly to evaluate things quickly, and with that came the departure of hitting coaches Craig Snider and Stephanie Sanders.
