The AUSL All-Star Cup enters its final series on Friday night as Team Klingler takes on Team Flippen. Game time is set for 7 p.m. EDT, 6 p.m. CDT, and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
Who will be crowned champion on Sunday is still a close call. Baylee Klingler comes into the weekend on top of the leaderboard with 890 points. Then, right behind her is Lexi Kilfoyl with 866 points. While they sit as the two favorites, Hannah Flippen is in third with 750 points. Anything could happen, and with the All-Star Cup format, it wouldn’t be a shock if she found her way to the top.
The All-Star Cup format is the original AUSL way. One fact to note is that there has never been a repeat champion with this model. With last year’s champion Kayla Kowalik unable to participate this year, that possibility was eliminated from the jump. Still, the All-Star Cup is challenging and involves different components to master.
PAST ALL-STAR CUP CHAMPIONS
2020: Cat Osterman
2021: Aleshia Ocasio
2022: Dejah Mulipola
2023: Odicci Alexander
2024: Amanda Lorenz
2025: Kayla Kowalik
Klingler and Kilfoyl are in close range of each other. Klingler has not lost a game as All-Star Cup captain this year. Her teams have a perfect 4-0 record. Kilfoyl, who finished second in 2024, drafted a team of great balance for the final series.
There is great potential at the plate, such as Megan Grant, Sami Williams and Skylar Wallace. Also, she has great pitching in Kilfoyl herself, Megan Faraimo, Kat Sandercock, and Amber Fiser. The infielders behind them, such as Kenleigh Cahalan, Aubrey Leach, and Ailana Agbayani, have all made fantastic plays throughout the season.
With the way pitching and great defense have ruled the All-Star Cup for the most part, you have to like Kilfoyl’s chances to come away as champion. If I had to make a prediction, I would lean that way.
