The AUSL All-Star Cup is down to the last series, and on Monday captains Baylee Klingler, Lexi Kilfoyl and Hannah Flippen drafted their teams. As always, the teams are stacked with some of the best players in the world. Each team has its strengths, and this thing could go in any direction.
This All-Star Cup has seen its share of pitchers’ duels with timely offense. It will be interesting to see how the final series plays out, and whether hitting can pick up or will pitching and great defense prevail once again.
It’s worth remembering how the leaderboard works, too. Stats don’t move it as much as fans might expect. Win points carry most of the breakdown, so the player sitting near the top isn’t always the one who has performed the best. A great example is Flippen. Sunday night, she recorded her first hit of the All-Star Cup, but 690 of her 750 total points have come from inning and game win points.
