College Softball Viewership Hits Record High

They say “everyone watches women’s sports,” and it’s hard to argue with that statement right now. College softball, in particular, has gained massive popularity over the past few years, and each season the numbers keep climbing.

ESPN PR released the final viewership numbers today, and the 2025 Women’s College World Series shattered previous records. Across 15 games on ESPN’s platforms, an average of 1.3 million viewers tuned in, marking a huge 24 percent jump compared to last year. That made it the most watched Women’s College World Series ever, passing 2021’s mark.

Even more impressive, the finals themselves averaged 2.2 million viewers, another significant increase of 13 percent from last season. Game one of the finals set its own record as the most-watched WCWS finals opening game ever.

The growth of college softball is undeniable, and the numbers don’t lie. If you haven’t jumped on board yet, it’s definitely not too late. This sport is booming, and there’s room for more fans.

And it’s not just the college game. Professional softball is also making waves. Athletes Unlimited Softball League kicked off their new season recently, showcasing plenty of talented players you’ve likely cheered for at the college level.

Let’s keep the momentum going and continue supporting this incredible sport.
