The USA Softball International Cup begins Thursday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. All games involving the U.S. teams can be seen with an ESPN+ subscription. There are 36 total players between the U.S. Women’s National Team and U.S. Elite Team rosters, and 30 of them are also on Athletes Unlimited Softball League teams. AUSL Commissioner Kim Ng spoke Wednesday about how the league has the best players in the world.
“I personally take great pride in the idea that we have the best players in the world,” Ng said. “We’ve got the International Cup. USA Softball is putting on the International Cup right now in Oklahoma City. Of those 36 players on the roster, we’ve got 30 of them. Five of them are in college, so therefore they cannot be on our roster.”
Those five collegiate players are Kendall Wells from Oklahoma, Taylor Shumaker from Florida, Teagan Kavan from Texas, Aleena Garcia from UCLA and Gabbie Garcia from Oklahoma.
Outside of the U.S. teams, American Samoa has Ailana Agbayani and Mary Iakopo from the Chicago Bandits who will participate in the International Cup.
