On Tuesday, head coach Karen Weekly and Tennessee softball picked up a commitment from class of 2027 middle infielder Mia Roland.
Roland, from Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, N.C., originally committed to South Carolina in September 2025. She announced on social media that she flipped her commitment.
“I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get to work, compete in orange and white, and be part of something so special,” Roland wrote in her commitment announcement.
She becomes the sixth Top 100 Lady Vol commit for the 2027 class, according to Rivals/On3. Roland is ranked No. 67 nationally and No. 2 in North Carolina.
As a junior in 2026, Roland hit .765 with 39 hits, 14 home runs, 46 RBIs and 52 runs scored in 21 games for Charles D. Owen. This is according to MaxPreps.
Roland joins a Tennessee class that currently ranks No. 8 nationally for 2027. The group is headlined by five-star pitcher Kaylee Hodges, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect. It also includes middle infielder Gracyn Needle (No. 37 nationally), outfielder Emma Pynes (No. 57), middle infielder Evelynn Swartzlander (No. 60) and catcher Kamryn Potts (No. 74).
