The Visit That Changed Everything For Felts

Some players just know when they’ve found the right college home. For Georgetown High School’s(SC) own Satcher Felts, that moment happened the very first time she walked across Wofford’s campus.

“The first time I visited Wofford for a prospect camp, I immediately fell in love with the campus and the coaching staff. It felt like home right away,” Felts said.

That comfort came quickly, thanks in large part to Wofford’s coaching staff with Head Coach Chelsea Butler, Coach Kara Shutt, Coach Liguori Taylor, and Coach Mark Line, who connected with her from the jump.

“They were so welcoming, and I really connected with each of their coaching styles,” she added. “Being at the camp gave me the chance to learn more about their personalities and coaching philosophies, and it quickly felt like the right fit for me.”

Softball wasn’t the only factor. Felts, who plans to major in Biology, found reassurance talking to several current players studying the same field. Their praise for both academics and the staff’s commitment to putting students first stood out.

“I also talked with several players majoring in biology, and they all spoke highly of Wofford’s academics and how the coaches truly prioritize you as a student before an athlete. Since I plan to major in Biology, that meant a lot to me. All of that made it clear that Wofford was the place where I wanted to spend the next four years.”

A Coaching Staff That Felt Different

It didn’t take long for Satcher to realize just how big of a role the staff would play in her final decision. Their energy, their presence, and the way they coached their players spoke volumes.

“Coach Chelsea, Coach Kara, Coach Taylor, and Coach Line played a huge part in my recruiting process and commitment,” Felts said. “They’re all so personable and really understand that you’re a student before you’re an athlete. They bring so much energy and make the game fun while still pushing their players to get better.”

Watching them run a scrimmage only confirmed her feelings.

“When I watched them coach during a scrimmage, I immediately knew that was the kind of environment I wanted to be part of. They connected with their players, coached them hard, and still kept everything positive. From the moment I met them, I knew I wanted to join their program. They truly are the best of the best.”

Motivated by Greatness

Every athlete has someone they model their game after, and for Felts, that inspiration has been Florida outfield legend Kendra Falby.

“One of my biggest role models in softball is Kendra Falby, who recently graduated from the University of Florida,” she said. “She played center field and hit left-handed, and her speed and athleticism were unbelievable. Watching her make ESPN-level plays was amazing, and she’s truly one of the best outfielders college softball has seen. I really look up to the way she plays the game with so much energy and confidence.”

It’s easy to see that influence in Satcher’s game which is fast, fearless, and full of spark.

One More Chapter in Georgetown

Before the black and gold, though, there’s one more season in navy and grey.

“For my final season at Georgetown softball, I’m really looking forward to being coached by Coach Chris, Coach Adams, and Coach Sanders as they help prepare me for college next year,” she said.

And this isn’t just any season. This one is special, because of who she gets to share it with.

“I’m excited to finish out the year playing with my best friends—and my sister—which makes this season even more special.”

She’s approaching her senior season with intention and some big goals she’s ready to chase.

“My goals are to make All-State, hit over .500, hit more than six home runs, limit strikeouts, and steal more bases. I also want every at-bat to be a quality at-bat. I’m ready to work hard, compete, and make this the best season yet for GHS.”

Already Looking Ahead to Spartanburg

With signing day behind her and her future officially set, Satcher is counting down the days until she steps foot on Wofford’s campus, not just as a recruit, but as a Terrier.

“One thing I am looking forward to most when I arrive at Wofford is getting to play the sport I love alongside my best friend and teammate, Lainey Babich,” she said. “I’m also excited to be on campus, meet all my new teammates, and make new friends.”

Before she gets there, she already has a message for Terrier Nation.

“I am super excited to join the Terrier family next year. I can’t wait to get to work and represent Wofford in black and gold!! Go Terriers!”

From Georgetown to Spartanburg, from small-town roots to Division I dreams, Satcher Felts is ready for what’s next, and Wofford fans should be excited too. She’s bringing fire, personality, toughness, and the kind of spark that fits perfectly in black and gold.
