When the Texas Volts brought Jackie Lis in as a reserve this season, she believed that she was just a short-term fix. A few players were banged up, the team needed help, and Lis was there to fill a spot until everyone got healthy. That is not how it played out.
Lis did what she always has, worked hard, took care of business, and made it hard to deny her place. The Volts soon saw there was no way they’d let her leave Round Rock.
“I really didn’t think I was going to be able to stay the entire time, I’ll be completely honest,” Lis told Southeastern Softball Wire. “I knew that I was kind of filling a temporary spot while we waited on some injuries to get all healed up and feeling better, but I got hot at the right time, so I think it was hard for them to justify sending me back.”
