Fusion Premier Roark Claims Big Orange Showcase Title Behind Bosemer’s Complete Game

Today at Sherry Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Big Orange Showcase Championship took place. The TN Bombers 2027 16u squad faced the Fusion Premier Roark 16u team out of Kentucky/Indiana.

The game was a pitcher’s duel for much of the contest, and one pitcher stood tall from start to finish, Kadie Bosemer of Fusion Premier Roark.

Pitching Sets the Tone Early

Hallie Grace Johnson started strong for the Bombers, pitching three solid innings and keeping hitters off balance with a good mix. The riseball was effective for both teams, and hitters had a tough time laying off it.

In the top of the third, after two quick outs, Mack Faulkner reached on a walk to spark the Fusion offense. Lori Edgar capitalized, ripping an RBI double to score Faulkner and give Fusion a 1-0 lead.

Bosemer responded by locking in even more. After Taylor Wolfram led off the bottom half of the third with a single to center, Bosemer retired the side in order. Emmaline Engle worked a six-pitch at-bat, but ultimately fell to Bosemer’s rise.

Bosemer’s Approach: Deception and Spin

I asked Bosemer after the game about her mindset in the circle and how focused she felt throughout. She said:

“I effectively moved my ball so that it looked like a strike until it was not.”

Most of the contact the Bombers made resulted in soft grounders or routine flyouts. Bosemer’s ability to spin the ball with precision helped keep the Bombers off balance all afternoon.

Maddie Gray Provides the Big Swing

In the fourth, Fusion Premier added to their lead. With one on and one out, Maddie Gray crushed a two-run home run to center to extend the lead to 3-0. Hard contact had been rare to that point, but Gray made the most of her moment.

Communication was key in that at-bat, according to Gray.

“I talked with Molly, who hit in front of me, and she’s like she’s coming inside, she’s coming inside. So then the first pitch wasn’t there for me, and then it was on an 0-2 count. So that’s a hitter’s count, and I was like thinking, I’m ready to hit, I’m ready to hit. And I opened up and hit it.”

Bombers Battle Late

The Bombers looked to mount a late rally. In the fifth, Rianna Boone returned to the circle after a leadoff walk to Townsend. Boone settled in, recording a strikeout and retiring the side to keep the game at 3-0.

The Bombers threatened again in the bottom half, getting a couple of runners aboard, but they were left stranded.

Bosemer Finishes What She Started

Kadie Bosemer entered the sixth with five shutout innings under her belt, having allowed just one hit, two walks, and recorded five strikeouts.

Payton Hasty took the circle for the Bombers in the sixth and had to settle in quickly. Cara Swope drew a leadoff walk but was erased on a double play as Mingus lined out to third and Emmaline Engle fired to first for a double-up.

Rylee Raby then threw out Godsey trying to steal second, ending the frame and giving the Bombers one last shot in the bottom of the sixth.

Logan Jameson led off with a single to left center on an 0-2 pitch. Bosemer struck out Engle for out number one. Hasty then singled through the 5-6 hole to put two runners on with one out.

After Layne flew out for the second out, the Bombers stayed alive as Camryn Shrader ripped an RBI single down the left field line to cut the deficit to 3-1.

I asked Bosemer if her mindset changed at all in that final moment with the tying run at the plate.

“I had trust in my defense. I had trust in myself because I had pitched a pretty good game before that, and I like to work under pressure.”

College coaches, I hope you heard that. She loves the pressure. And with the tying run standing at the plate, Bosemer trusted her defense one last time. Rylee Raby flew out to center for the final out.

Stat Lines and Final Thoughts

Fusion Premier Roark 16u had secured the Big Orange Showcase Championship.

Kadie Bosemer pitched a complete game, going six innings and allowing one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

At the plate, Fusion managed just four hits, but Maddie Gray went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Congratulations to Fusion Premier Roark 16u, on your Big Orange Showcase Championship.
