Clarke’s Growth and Fire Shine for Tennessee This Fall

Fall Focus: Emma Clarke’s Rise in Knoxville

It is fall and a great time to look ahead at the season, with thoughts on who could stand out big for their respective teams. I will start my outlook in Knoxville, Tennessee as Emma Clarke is showing to be one that could have a huge season for the Lady Vols.

Clarke has been showing to be a reliable and effective hitter this fall for Tennessee. In the couple of games I have watched her play, she just always seems to find a couple of hits and attacks the gaps well. Last season for Tennessee, Emma played in 44 games, starting 34 as a true freshman. She hit .211 with two home runs, 12 RBIs, and seven doubles in 90 at bats.

She has proven to be a clutch hitter who delivers in key moments and has clearly put in the work this offseason to elevate her game. Looking back at her seven doubles from 2025, I fully expect that number to climb. According to 64Analytics, the Lady Vols ranked around 60th nationally last season with 78 doubles, while their 19 triples placed them 12th in the country. As a team, Tennessee looks poised to be both opportunistic and aggressive on the bases, but they just need to maintain discipline while doing so.

“She’s a hard worker. She’s getting a whole lot better. She got a lot of at bats last year that gave her some good experience. I think she’s gonna do big things for us this year,” said Karen Weekly. “She plays with great energy. She communicates at a high level. She’s somebody that’s just fun to watch and fun to be around.”

Her energy is definitely noticeable and stands out, especially on the defensive side. Clarke is an infielder that can move around, which makes her value in the Tennessee lineup even greater. It gives Coach Karen Weekly the freedom to place her where she is most needed. She finished last season with a .989 fielding percentage, with 77 putouts, 13 assists, and just one error.

“She’s playing multiple positions for us. We’ve had her at second, third, catcher. You know, who knows, we might see her in the outfield or shortstop before it’s all over,” said Weekly.

Clarke’s trajectory is only going up, and with a great fall showing, she looks ready to take the next step in her role with Tennessee. The Lady Vols, as always, are expected to compete at the highest level in the SEC and nationally. Emma Clarke will be a name that you should become used to hearing in the 2026 season, as the Lady Vols will try to take care of business in the SEC and make a return trip to Oklahoma City.
