Danieca Coffey Steps Into Coaching

Danieca Coffey, current AUSL softball player who spent her rookie season with the Volts and a former LSU Tiger, has officially stepped into the coaching world. Coach Abby Bolton and Baton Rouge Community College Athletics announced yesterday that Coffey has been hired as their new softball assistant coach. Last season the Bears finished with a 25-18 record, after making it to the South-Central District Tournament.

Coffey played five seasons at LSU and built a standout career, finishing with a .366 batting average, seven home runs, 32 doubles, 10 triples, 105 RBIs, and 170 runs scored in 231 games. She also added 41 stolen bases.

She left Baton Rouge ranked among the best in program history, sitting No. 2 all-time with a .457 on-base percentage, No. 5 with a .366 batting average, No. 5 with 121 walks, No. 10 with 10 triples, and No. 10 with 325 assists. Her 75 career multi-hit games rank No. 8 all-time at LSU.

Coffey was selected in the third round of the AUSL Amateur Draft by the Volts and went on to play in 24 games, starting 21 of them. She wasted no time making an impression, earning Player of the Series honors to open the season. During the All-Star Cup, Coffey played and started in 10 games, reaching captain status for Series 3. She finished fifth overall in leaderboard points with 1,140, continuing to showcase the same consistency and competitive edge that defined her collegiate career.

Now, Coffey embarks on a new chapter in her career as she steps into coaching while continuing to compete as a high-level professional softball player.
