There was a time, not that long ago, when Ella Cunningham was not sure softball was still going to be part of her story.
Her freshman year at Michigan State was hard enough to make her wonder if she wanted to keep going at all. The game she had built her whole life around had started to feel like something she needed a break from. Then, she spent a month in the Scenic City Collegiate League in Chattanooga. Somewhere in that stretch of games she remembered why she started in the first place. The love came back. And once she knew she still wanted to play, the only question left was where.
The answer turned out to be Troy. Now, a year later, after a solid first season in Troy, Ala., Cunningham can’t wait to get back on the field.
