The AUSL All-Star Cup will be without the AUSL Pitcher of the Year. The league announced Wednesday that Montana Fouts will miss the remainder due to a lower-body injury. Fouts will be replaced in the 45-player roster by Oklahoma City Spark pitcher Maya Johnson.
Fouts finished with 110 points on the leaderboard and was set to pitch for Team Klingler in the upcoming series. During the Talons championship run, Fouts went 8-4 with 8 complete games. She tossed 67 strikeouts to 11 walks across 69.1 innings.
In the USA Softball All-Star Cup, Fouts went 2-0 with 16 strikeouts and 5 hits allowed in 11.1 innings. All 16 strikeouts came in her starts against China and Japan, 8 in each. During the gold-medal game vs. Japan, she carried a perfect game into the seventh inning.
Johnson comes in after going 3-5 with 1 complete game for the Spark during the regular season. She struck out 31 to 19 walks across 43 innings and made 11 starts in 14 appearances. Johnson was the third overall pick in the AUSL Collegiate Draft out of Belmont University.
