On Wednesday, the finalists for the first AUSL Rawlings Gold Glove Award were announced. The winner will be revealed Sunday prior to the All-Star Cup Series 2 finale. It will be just the second time the award is presented in pro softball.
AUSL Championship MVP Jadelyn Allchin of the Utah Talons, along with Alyssa Brito of the Carolina Blaze and Sydney Romero of the Oklahoma City Spark, were announced as the finalists.
Allchin was a lockdown presence in the Talons’ outfield. She finished the season with 54 putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Brito held down shortstop for the Blaze all season, often making inning-saving plays behind the Carolina pitching staff. Brito finished the regular season with a .973 fielding percentage, recording 43 assists, 29 putouts and just 2 errors.
Romero led all AUSL shortstops with 45 assists, 5 double plays and a .974 fielding percentage. Romero recorded 30 putouts and committed just 2 errors this season.
